2 peas in a pod!

My little imaginary trouble maker

Caleb is a funny, funny, IMAGINATIVE boy! I’ve never met a child with such an imagination. I was hoping to shield him at this age from friends that are bad influences but what does a mom do when her sons friend who is a bad influence is imaginary? Caleb has an imaginary friend named Shawn and Shawn wasn’t raised with the same rules as Caleb. Shawn doesn’t get out of bed until it’s time to literally walk out the door, then Caleb makes us wait until Shawn is ready before we can go. Shawn doesn’t like to wear his seat belt in the car, often takes it off while we're driving, & has to be reminded numerous times that we don’t tell people, “I’m gonna kick your butt”. Shawn apparently doesn’t like to do our devotions in the morning either. So now instead of 2 boys to discipline I have 3! Whew, that’s exhausting. Maybe God is getting me ready for something?...

Caleb went to a "pirate" themed birthday party over the weekend where they went on a treasure hunt and gathered items to dress up as a pirate. For this child that LOVES to dress up this was so special! They also got to make wooden swords and decorate them. Here is my little pirate!! 

Argh... This is the face that Caleb makes at Luke when he tells him to "walk the plank". 

Cherry Blossoms

Since we are moving soon we are trying to see some the "DC sights" before we go (boy, there are a lot of sights!) One of the big things in DC is the Cherry Blossom festival downtown. We went down on Saturday morning, took a picnic lunch, walked the National Mall and then fed the ducks at the Tidal Basin and in front of the Capitol. It still amazes me everytime I go down and I see the White House, Capitol and all the monuments.

We had a great day!

Brothers

I absolutely LOVE having my boys! Before Luke was born, I was hoping for a girl and once again God knew what we needed more than we did...a brother for Caleb. Caleb is a great big brother. He is gentle (as Caleb can be), sweet, loving, patient and we are always suprised at how he looks after his little brother. And Luke loves his big brother. He repeats everything he says & follows him around the house. They definitely have their brother moments - where they are wrestling and someone gets hurt or they fight over the same toy, but most of the time they are very content with each other. They are a handful and I have to keep my eye on them, especially now that it is nice out and they get into mischief together in the back yard, but oh how I love my boys. All of them. And I LOVE being the Queen Bee of the Maddry house!

I love this picture because it is the boys with the things that are MOST important to them. Caleb has Pups & blankie and Luke has his pacifier, his blankie and Caleb's drink (which is what they fight over the most!)

What the Military Channel inspires...

One of the million things I love about my husband is that if you give him a cardboard box, some scissors and duck tape he could build anything (maybe I should ask him to work on a house in San Antonio for us!) He and Caleb love to watch the Military Channel together *yawn* and Caleb loves has to pretend that he is either a tank driver or a pilot. So every tank driver/pilot needs a tank/aiplane. Well, good thing we have our Daddy who can make a tank/airplane. Pretty cool. Soon we will have a Daddy who can build us a tank/airplane and fix us when we crash!
