Fun in the city

Ugh!
I've been so bad about posting lately. We have been so busy with packing and we have all been sick. Anyway I have a few minutes and I wanted to update our blog with some pictures we took a couple of weekends ago. We wanted to go into the city to walk the National Mall, and see the WWII Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. They are two that we have been by many times, but not actually walked around. It's so fun to live this close to such history. Here are some pictures of our morning as well as some of an exhibit that was on the Mall. At first glance it seemed like it was just a memorial, without any political agenda, for the soldiers that have been killed in the war. Then once you read their propaganda it became clear that they were anti-war demonstrators. On our way out they started their "protest march" around the mall, coffin and all. The other member of my party (who shall remain nameless since he is employed by the government, therefore has no opinion on the war) was disgusted.

This was the sign they had out. Posted by Picasa

They had names on the boots and they were grouped by state. Posted by Picasa

All of these shoes are supposed to represent the Iraqi civilians that have died.  Posted by Picasa

A beautiful day and shot of the Lincoln Memorial! Posted by Picasa

President Bush's helicopter flying overhead! Posted by Picasa

I wonder if they had those disgusted looks on their faces because the sun was in their eyes or because I keep taking their picture... Hmmm.... Posted by Picasa
