Another year bites the dust!

I turned 34 over the weekend.
Mercy, how did that happen?

When Luke was born, 6 years ago, I had a friend who was 34.  I was a youthful 28 and remember referring to my 34 year old friend as, "older."  I think the sentence went something like this: "That's Elvira," then in hushed tones, "she's older."

And now I have arrived.

It was a good little birthday.  Worked out at CrossFit and it was a tough one!  Whew.  Reminded me that I am in way better shape now than I ever was at my youthful 28.  Makes me excited about the future.

Anyway, after my workout I came home to banners all over the house made by my man and my little people.  Super cute!  Then the kids wanted to take me out to eat for my birthday.  At their favorite restaurant..Cici's Pizza.

Notice we eat at their favorite restaurant on my birthday.  Oh, to be a mama.

After that we came home and J put the girls down for nap and took the boys out for the afternoon, so I could be in silence.  Mmmmmm, silence.  That, alone, is a gift to a mama - can I get an amen!

Then we went out with 3 other couples for a very yummy dinner.  Wine, fish, bread, dessert...YUM!  A very welcomed change to my very boring diet!

I think it's time for a picture around here.
And I like this one....

Hi Sabrina, I think I have left you a comment one other time, but my name is Lanae. I found your blog through Jennifer Blom, she is my aunt. I love reading your posts because of your honesty, sincerity, and humor. You are a beautiful mama, have a beautiful family and are an inspiration to me as a Christian woman. I have been praying for you since I first read of the tumor and I will continue to pray that there is healing.
However, I haven't checked your blog in a while and tonight while at my computer, I was suddenly urged to come over and check up on your family. I started reading in November and the first post I read had the quote from your quiet time about God knowing the ultimate value of our painful experiences. I can't tell you how it touched me. My husband and I have a beautiful 2 year old daughter, Mackenzie, who is having and probably will continue to have struggles in her life. It was another tough week for me and your quote along with your faith has been the pick-me-up that I needed to trust God with my worries and keep moving forward to glorify Him with my life. Things could definitely be worse and I know we can handle it. Like I said, you are an inspiration for me and you have touched my heart.
Oh, and we live in Grand Forks, ND so I think it's cool that you lived in Bismarck. :) I see the comments hear are approved by you, so actually, if you wouldn't mind, I'd prefer that you don't approve my comment for all to see. I didn't know how else to send you a message. I also keep a blog at http://nickandlanae.blogspot.com but if you ever want to message me back, my email address is lanae.leigh@gmail.com
Thank you for sharing your honesty and faith through your blog, I think you make more of a difference to people than you know. And Happy Birthday!

There are definite benefits to being older. I have felt such a freedom in my 40s. Freedom to take off any masks, freedom to speak my mind - maybe too much!

May you feel God's breath of pleasure on you this new-for-you year.
