College... or Diapers...

So last night, out of curiosity, I did the math to see how much we are spending in diapers a month. We are trying to re-work our monthly budget and see if it would be worth it to join COSTCO. Here are the figures that I came up with (drum roll please):
  • We use (minimally) 448 diapers a month for the girls and 168 diapers a month for Luke with a grand total of 616 diapers!!! (These estimates are VERY conservative.)
  • and we use 900 wipes every month!!!

So you are saying to yourself, "Isn't Luke old enough to use the potty? Why don't they potty train him?" The answer is YES! Luke is old enough. And we have told him that many times. But he has zero interest in potty training. Actually he has LESS that zero interest. We briefly tried a couple of times and used various methods - bribery, "don't you want to be a big boy like Caleb?" and even begging, but Luke doesn't want to do it. He's too smart for us. Bribery doesn't work because he has everything he wants. Appealing to his desire to be a "big boy" doesn't work because in his mind he is a big boy and begging is useless. Luke is so stubborn that we may have better luck potty training the girls. His stubborn nature and lack of desire to be potty trained combined with newborn twins and no hubby home equals a little boy that may be going to college in diapers. In any case, he is wearing the largest diapers available...next stop - Depends!
